| Staying Cold (03/01/09) |

Outlook - Staying Cold
Scotland and the rest of the UK have been under the influence of a stubborn anticyclone for some time now and it looks set to continue for a while yet.
A weak weather front will try to sink south eastwards on Sunday which will most likely fall as rain at lower levels. With ground temperatures at freezing or below, this rain could lead to very icy conditions. Some places may see a little bit of snow particularly in mountain areas during Sunday into Monday however, once this weak front has moved through the high pressure will reassert itself with more overnight frosts, fog patches and low daytime temperatures. Extreme low temperatures cannot be ruled out for the highland glens. |
